We take great pride in crafting our products with 100% nuts—pure and simple. This commitment means that natural oils from the nuts may occasionally rise to the surface. Unlike many other brands that add palm oil, sugar, salt, stabilizers, or preservatives, we choose to keep our nut butters free of unnecessary additives.
Since nuts can naturally vary in their oil content, some batches of our nut butter may turn out slightly runnier or thicker than others. This is part of the charm of enjoying a product made with nothing but nature’s finest.
In colder temperatures, the natural oils in our nut butters may separate and partially solidify, resulting in a thicker texture. You might notice small white specks —this is completely normal and doesn’t impact the nutritional value of the product.
If you’re finding it difficult to mix the oils back in, placing the jar in a warm spot can help.
Pro tip: If you’re unsure whether these are oils, try heating a spoon in hot water, scoop some of the mixture, and watch the specks melt. These oils carry a lot of flavor, so keeping them mixed ensures the best taste experience.
We take pride in our commitment to avoiding stabilizers in our products, which means the natural oils may occasionally separate.
In cooler weather, you might notice tiny white spots, snowflake-like patterns, or small beads on the surface of the nut butter. Rest assured, this is completely natural and safe to eat. Simply stir them back in, and they’ll melt away perfectly on your warm toast!
This is a result of the natural oil content found in nuts and seeds, which can fluctuate based on growing and weather conditions.
As a completely natural product, the level of oil separation may also vary depending on how it is stored.
This phenomenon is called fat blooming.
Cocoa butter fat bloom occurs when the cocoa butter separates from the cocoa solids in chocolate and rises to the surface, creating a white film, swirls, or spots. This often happens due to temperature fluctuations.
As the cocoa butter separates, it forms layers within the chocolate, resulting in an uneven texture that can feel gritty or sandy. While this bloom may affect the chocolate’s appearance and texture, it is purely a cosmetic issue and doesn’t make the chocolate unsafe to eat. To restore its glossy finish and smooth texture, simply melt and temper the chocolate again, or enjoy it as is without any concerns!
