Product Storage

So, you've opened a jar of Chap Chap Snacks Cashew Butter. Excellent choice. Now, assuming you don't finish it by the spoonful, here's how to keep it fresh and delicious down to the last scoop.

1. Give It a Good Stir

See a little oil at the top? That's completely normal.

Cashews naturally contain oils, and because we don't add stabilizers to keep everything permanently mixed, some separation can happen over time.

Simply stir your cashew butter well from top to bottom before enjoying it. This helps redistribute the natural oils and keeps the texture creamy throughout the jar.

2. Pantry or Fridge? Both Work.

You don't need to refrigerate your cashew butter if you plan to enjoy it within 3 to 4 months after opening.

Keep the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

Planning to keep it around a little longer? Refrigeration can help maintain freshness for approximately 6 to 9 months after opening.

Just keep in mind that your cashew butter will become firmer in the fridge. If you prefer it soft and spreadable, let your serving come to room temperature before enjoying it.

3. Keep It Cool, Dry and Clean

Whether you keep your jar in the pantry or refrigerator, a few simple habits can help maintain its quality:

  • Keep the lid tightly closed.
  • Store it away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Always use a clean, dry spoon.
  • Avoid introducing water or other food into the jar.

If the product develops an unusual smell, flavour or appearance, it's best not to consume it.

4. What Are Those Little White Spots?

Occasionally, you may notice small white specks, a thin film, or snowflake-like patterns on the surface of your cashew butter, particularly when it has been stored somewhere cool.

This can happen when the natural fats in the cashews solidify or crystallize at lower temperatures.

Let the cashew butter warm slightly and give it a good stir. The texture should return to normal.

Why Does Cashew Butter Separate?

It all comes back to the cashews.

Cashews naturally contain oils. When cashew butter sits undisturbed, some of those oils can gradually rise to the surface while the heavier solids settle.

We don't add extra oils or stabilizers simply to prevent this natural separation. So if you open your jar and find a little oil at the top, grab a spoon, give it a good stir, and you're ready to go.

More Than a Spread

Cashew butter can do a lot more than sit on toast.

  • Spread it. On toast, croissants, crêpes, pancakes or waffles.
  • Dip it. Pair it with apples, bananas, strawberries or your favourite snack.
  • Blend it. Add a spoonful to smoothies or oatmeal for extra creaminess.
  • Bake with it. Try it in cookies, brownies and other favourite recipes.
  • Spoon it. Straight from the jar. We get it.

The Last Scoop

A little oil separation, a firmer texture after refrigeration or some natural variation from jar to jar can all be part of enjoying a cashew butter made without stabilizers.

Give it a stir, store it properly and enjoy it however you like.

Simple. Delicious. Better when shared.
